JEE Main 2020 Details


JEE, just end everything and focus on studies. Well, that’s not the actual full form but it's the level of seriousness this entrance hold. JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) of engineering which is conducted all over India. It is segregated into two parts- JEE main and JEE advance. It is a degree for undergraduate students.

JEE Main 2020

  • It offers admission in: - 

  1. Bachelor in Engineering (B.E)

It is a degree which hold studying engineering for 3 to 5 consecutive years. It focuses on theoretical knowledge needed to innovate technology.

  1. Bachelor in Technical (B.Tech)

It focuses on application and skill-based study. It's more of practical knowledge than theoretical like B.E.

  1. Bachelor in Architecture(B.Arch)

It's a combination of Art and engineering. when the term 'building' refers to a 'space' it becomes Architecture.

  1. Bachelor in Planning (B.Plan)

It implies optimum utilization of resources needed for building a structure. Development of rural, urban and town planning, rehabilitation projects, transportation projects like railways, highways and metro etc. 

  • Admissions in prestigious institutions like

  • 31 National Institute of Technology (NIT's)

  • 25 Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT's).

  • 28 Centrally Funded Technical Institute and more.

  • Eligibility criteria

  1. Exam qualifications: - (10+2) exams or any equal level exam by any well-known board or University.

  2. Percentage required (Institution wise)

  • For general category: - at least 75% marks in 12 board examination 

  • For SC/ST: - at least 65% marks in 12th board examination.

  1. People under Diploma category: - Diploma holders will do but, for IIT's only.

  2. Certified subjects: -

  3. Chemistry/ Biology /Biotechnology / any other technical vocational.

  4. Maths and physics.

  1. No age limits.

  2. No of trails: - Once annually.

  • New updates by National Testing Agency 

  1. From 2019 onwards the control over the exam will be by National Testing Agency.

  2.  The exam would be held twice a year i.e. In January and April.

  3. Aadhar card is not needed to apply for the entrance.

  4. Diabetes student are given permission to carry water bottles, sugar tablets and fruits in the examination hall.

  5. Paper 2 is mandatory for candidates holding chemistry, mathematics and physics.

  • 05 - 11 April 2020

  1. Offline mode 

  2. Paper 1: - 90 questions-360 marks 

  3. Paper 2: - 80 questions- 390 marks 

  4. Multiple choice 

  5. Disable participants with 40% can take 1 hour extra to complete the paper 

  6. 4 marks for every right answer and one mark for every wrong answer.

  1. Physics

  1. Both the volumes of Concepts of Physics by HC Verma (Highly recommended)

  2. ‘Fundamentals of Physics’ by Resnick and Halliday (optional)

  3. ‘Problems in General Physics by I. E. Irodov (Has thought-provoking problems)

  4. Physics for Scientists and Engineers’ by ‘Jewett and Serway’ (Didn’t use this much. But it is an amazing book. Theory is explained really well.)

  5. Chemistry

  6. ‘Organic Chemistry’ by Morrison and Boyd (for Organic)

  7. ‘Concise Inorganic Chemistry’ by J. D. Lee (for Inorganic and Physical Chemistry)

  8. ‘Modern Approach to Chemical Calculations’ by R. C. Mukherjee (The numerical problems are often clear-cut. It is an important book as it will give you the right insight into theoretical calculations.)

  9. ‘University Chemistry’ by ‘Bruce M. Mahan and Rollie J. Meyers’ (for Inorganic and Physical Chemistry)

  10. Mathematics

  11. Vector and 3D Geometry

  12. Trigonometry

  13. Integral Calculus

  14. Differential Calculus

  15. Coordinate Geometry

  16. Algebra
